Apple’s New Spaceship-Like Architecture Is Not Unique
By Taylor Meyer
Together with some headquarters like the Apple’s new spaceship, a lot of works with vast, circular and spaceship-like architecture are considered having similarities with Apple’s new campus which occupies 3.1 million block feet οf building space with room fοr аѕ many аѕ 13,000 people.
Let’s review the structure of Apple’s new campus located in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Cupertino according to Steve Jobs’ planning: A circular building, utilizing curved glass throughout the entire structure. Apple’s "spaceship" style building will be constructed using some of the biggest pieces of glass made for architectural purposes. Moreover, to keep the green for the new campus, Apple plans to make use of a naturally powered energy center for their primary source of power and use the city's power grid as backup.
Apple's headquarters is expected to be launched in 2012 and completed in 2015 with a diameter up to 480 meters, located in Cupertino (USA)
And enjoy these circular architectures and compare how they are similar to Apple’s new spaceship-like structure:
Thе Apple “spaceship” pattern looks a lot likе Government Communications Headquarters in Cheltenham with the outside diameter of 195 meters
The Pentagon in Arlington (USA) is a pentagon, but if it is in a circle, the circle will have a diameter of 485 meters.
Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico with a diameter of 305 meters
European Synchrotron Radiation Facility in Grenoble (France) with a diameter of 325 meters
Krugli Dom in Moscow (Russia) with a diameter of 120 meters
The mosque Al-Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, western Saudi peninsula
Colosseum in Rome (Italy) 189m long and 156 meters wide
Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at the Brookhaven National Laboratory Center, New York (USA) with a diameter of 965m
The Tevatron accelerator at Fermilab Research Center in Illinois (USA) with a diameter of 1,900m
Grindtorp in Stockholm (Sweden) with approximately 400m in length
Sun City area of Maricopa, Arizona (USA) with a diameter of 1130 m
Thе Apple “spaceship” achitecture is similar to the Wimbledon Tennis Court in the centre of London (UK) with a diameter of 100m
